Former Health Inspector's Family Sues Over Mold Cross-Contamination

Apparently, it is not just cigarettes that have secondary effects on the health of others. According to a recent lawsuit filed in alleges that mold can have a similar effect.

The family of a former health inspector filed the lawsuit against the Health District. Although the health inspector died from complications related to exposure to a toxic mold, his family has filed the lawsuit claiming they were “cross-contaminated.”

Interestingly, the Health District’s mission is to protect the public from health risks. However, the suit alleges that the District’s own building was severely contaminated with mold and that the District was “reckless” in addressing the problem. Specifically, the suit states that the Health District was fully aware that the mold was causing severe health problems, yet took no corrective measures.

According to the lawsuit, the mold causes “the experience of protracted extremely outrageous, severely painful and debilitating disease directly due to…exposure of toxic mold substances.” The late inspector died in 2007 as a result of a chronic lung disease, attributed via autopsy to a high concentration of toxic mold.

If you have been exposed to mold, you should contact an attorney. An attorney will be able to help you address any potential legal claims that may result from the exposure.
